I test the way I guide: 3-day trips, real sun, real food. I start Thursday and I end Sunday. If a cooler claims "up to 5 days," I'm putting it in a 70-degree room and watching the ice melt. The biggest issue with the Titan is that it's a little pricey for a soft-sided cooler. But here's why I keep reaching for it: the zipperless lid and latching system are amazing. No more fighting with a stuck zipper when you've got a rod in one hand and a net in the other.

I'm a bit of an over-thinker, so I measured the interior before I bought my ice packs. Ten tall seltzers standing, or twelve normal cans laid down, plus an ice pack on top. One golfer fit 10 tall cans plus an ice pack, another fit 12 cans.
The sandwich tray is genius. When I compared it against my CORE, which cost more, the CORE kept things cooler.
But the Titan does 80% of the job at 40% of the price. For weekend outings, this is my go-to.

The lid won't stay open. There's no way for the lid to stay up without having to hold it. That's an annoyance when you're trying to grab a drink with one hand and hold a plate with the other. But here's what makes me trust it: the wheels. They handle sidewalks, asphalt, and really muddy ground. I've rolled it across craft fair parking lots and boat ramps.
Ice lasted 4 days, and even 3 days in 80-90°F at a craft fair with constant in-and-out access. One reviewer moved from Arizona to Wisconsin during the hottest week of summer, strapped it to a hitch basket, and after 3 days on the road, some food was almost frozen with barely any meltwater.
At ~$60, this cooler costs less per day of a three-day camping trip than a single round of drinks at the bar.
The ~$300 cooler has to be four times better to justify that gap. It isn't.
Igloo Marine Cooler
The classic hard-shell. This is the one that's been on boats for decades, and it's built for fishing. The lid seals decently and it holds a catch without leaking. But the insulation isn't what the newer versions offer. I've had ice last 2 days in this thing on a hot boat, which is fine for a day trip but not for a weekend.
I've also used the newer version of the Igloo Marine, and it's a step up in insulation, but the price creeps up with it. If you're a shore angler or a kayak fisherman who just needs to keep a few walleye cold until you get home, this is a solid pick.
But if you're planning a 3-day trip, you'll want something with more insulation. The telescoping handle on the rolling version sticks some when attempting to push it down for storage, which is a small daily annoyance.
Hulongo Cooler Backpack
For hikes, kayak trips, or anywhere you need hands-free carrying, this is worth every penny. The leak-proof bottom is a lifesaver, no more soggy trunk. Frozen water bottles were still mostly frozen 8 hours later. The top compartment is perfect for sandwiches, and the laced top holds towels or a jacket.

But it's heavy when full. Putting it on when it was full was a bit of a challenge, I had to put it on a table. And the chest connector at first seemed to strangle me. Give it a few wears and it loosens up, but it's a real complaint.
It's also a 30L, which holds 48 cans, but that's a lot of weight to carry on your back. If you're doing a long hike to a remote fishing spot, this is the one.
Just don't expect to throw it on like a regular backpack when it's loaded.

This is the great value pick for truck drivers and workday lunches. It kept lunch cold at least 10 hours with a couple ice packs in summer. One reviewer got 3 days of cold food out of it. For the price, it's excellent performance.
But the lid will close by itself, which is an annoyance. I'm trying to grab a sandwich, not wrestle a bear. And getting 3 full days in the sun like advertised is a stretch. The ice melted in a 70-degree room, even though the water stayed cold.
So it's great for what it is, but don't believe the marketing. If you need a lunchbox that keeps things cold for a workday, this is it.
If you're planning a camping trip, keep looking.
The fishing-specific gear
I've also tested a few fishing-specific bags that aren't coolers but deserve a mention. The Baitium Fishing Backpack is a 40L tackle bag with rod holders, and it's great for organizing your gear. But it's not insulated, so it's not a cooler.
I pair it with the Titan for day trips. The Grneric Fishing Bucket is a foldable fish bucket that's handy for keeping your catch alive or holding your fillet knife and stringer.
It's not a cooler either, but it's a useful piece of kit.
The bottom line
Forget the ~$300 coolers. I've borrowed a friend's ~$400 rotomolded monster, and it kept ice longer, but not 4 times longer. My CORE kept things cooler and has the magnetic lid with a heavy duty waterproof zipper, but the Titan held its own at a fraction of the price. The premium brands are real, but they're not necessary. You're paying for peace of mind, not performance.
Choose the Titan if you want clean-ability and a lid that doesn't fight you. Choose the Coleman Classic if you need wheels and 4 days of ice. Choose the Igloo Marine if you're a purist who wants a hard-shell on a boat.
I've lived with all of them for months, and I'd trust any of them with a client's catch on a hot day.
That's the test that matters. I don't track prices day to day, so I won't pretend to know next week's, but the value math holds up.
Skip the hype, get the cooler that works.
